Prior to their recent associations, both Princess Luna and her notorious counterpart, Nightmare Moon had both made the acquaintance of and, in the case of Nightmare Moon at least, even established a formal business relationship with King Haggard. During the period of his youth when he became interested in unicorns his search for them ranged far and wide. He ate drank and slept them. Regarding the latter his interest was so strong that it compelled him to seek them out in his dreams. (Image Credit to JoelletheNose) This inevitably brought his mind in contact with Princess Luna whom, at that time, was experiencing the difficulties in her relationship with her sister that led to her inevitable expulsion and banishment.* Luna's appearance to him was fleeting and in silhouette. She appeared more a spiritual vision than an actual living being. Like one of Leiji Matsumoto's space queens, she exists to him as a darkly alluring and beautiful presence. Her speckled eyes
